About RK TAYLOR

RK Taylor is a Pittsburgh-based writer, editor, and social services worker. Taylor’s fiction and poetry grapple with the tension between love, masculinity, and illness. He studied philosophy and psychology at SUNY Geneseo before pursuing a degree in writing. Taylor earned an MFA from Chatham University, where he received the Katherine Ayres Award & Creative Excellence Award. His work has been nominated for several awards, including the Pushcart Prize, PEN/Dau Award, and Peaceful Dumpling Environmental Writing Prize. Taylor has had various jobs in the social services. He has aided children with severe autism, helped to house the chronically homeless, and supported youth transitioning out of foster care. While studying at Chatham, RK Taylor taught student-inmates at the Allegheny County Jail through Words Without Walls. In both his writing and humanitarian praxis, Taylor aims to use his influence to create a better world.
